MOOS Drankenhandel is a wholesaler in the hospitality sector with more than 30 years of experience as a regular supplier to the Amsterdam hospitality industry. Thanks to their years of expertise, they know the challenges of catering businesses like no other. MOOS' working method is fully tailored to the specific needs of this sector. Their offer goes further than just supplying drinks; they offer added value through, for example, 24/7 ordering options, ad hoc deliveries and a unique key service that allows deliveries to be made outside opening hours. In addition, MOOS provides advice on the ideal range and strives to provide maximum support to their customers.
Issue
MOOS Drankenhandel had a corporate website and a web shop, but these were outdated and significantly limited the user experience. Customers complained about the poor mobile display, the lack of a user-friendly search and filter function and the limited ability to discover products outside their fixed order list. As a result, MOOS was missing out on opportunities to generate additional sales. In addition, the ERP system was in need of replacement, leading to inefficient processes and lost time.
The issue presented to us by MOOS consisted of the following goals:
- Improve the user-friendliness of the webshop:
- Make the shop fully mobile-friendly.
- Add a search function and clear navigation.
- Make the entire product catalogue viewable and orderable.
- Seamless integration with Microsoft Business Central:
- Make sure product and stock data are up-to-date.
- Have orders placed directly into Business Central.
- Add a customer portal where invoices and order history can be found.
- Combine the corporate website and webshop into one future-proof platform.
Our solution
To meet MOOS Beverage Store's requirements, we chose Shopware as our e-commerce platform. Shopware offers a powerful, user-friendly system that is also suitable for non-technical users. Thanks to the standard Ecomwise Shopware template, we were able to quickly realise a mobile-friendly design that suits MOOS' needs.
The key steps in our approach were:
- Design and user-friendliness: The template, developed with a "mobile-first" approach, provided a modern and intuitive design. This was complemented by a powerful search function, a customisable navigation structure and filtering options.
- Integration with Business Central: Using the Ecomwise Dynamics 365 Business Central Integration, we ensured that processes such as customer, product and stock imports were automated. Orders and customer-specific prices were instantly synchronised.
- Added functionalities:
- A customer portal where customers can view and download their order history and invoices.
- An order list function, allowing customers and MOOS to build product lists for faster future orders.
- Price display and ordering functionality "hidden" behind login.
- Link with customer-specific prices, allowing each customer to be shown his/her own prices.
- Future-proofing: The new Shopware environment combined the corporate website and webshop, which improved the user experience and reduced the management burden. Shopware offers a future-proof platform thanks to continuous updates, expandable functionalities and strong community support. This allows the platform to easily grow with the needs of MOOS and their customers.
The result
The implementation resulted in a completely revamped e-commerce platform that fully meets the needs of MOOS Beverages and their customers. The webshop is now mobile-friendly, features an optimised search function and clear navigation, and allows customers to easily search the entire product catalogue. By linking to Business Central, processes such as stock management and order processing have been automated, saving time and minimising errors.
